§ 46-57. Areas and time of authorized use; equipment requirements.

  • (a)

    Golf carts. The operation of golf carts within the town corporate limits upon public streets and public rights-of-way is hereby authorized, provided that the operation of golf carts is only allowed upon a public street with a posted speed limit of not more than thirty-five (35) miles per hour and operation of golf carts is only authorized during the daytime and is prohibited at nighttime. All golf carts operated on town streets and rights-of-way must be equipped with headlamps, tail lamps, reflectors, parking brakes and mirrors.

    (b)

    Electric bicycles, neighborhood electric vehicles and motor-assisted scooters. The operation of electric bicycles, neighborhood electric vehicles and motor-assisted scooters within the town corporate limits upon public streets and public rights-of-way are authorized, provided that the operation of such vehicles is only allowed on public streets with a posted speed limit of not more than thirty-five (35) miles per hour and only during the daytime hours. Operation is prohibited at nighttime. Vehicles permitted by this section must be equipped as required by V.T.C.A., Transportation Code ch. 551.
