The town was originally incorporated in the 1970s. It operates as a Type A, General Law Municipality, pursuant to V.T.C.A., Local Government Code § 6.001 et seq., having an aldermanic form of government pursuant to V.T.C.A., Local Government Code § 22.001 et seq.
