§ 12-20. Clerk.

  • (a)

    The town council shall appoint the clerk of the municipal court. The clerk's duties will be to keep the records of the municipal court, issue process and generally perform the duties for the municipal court as provided by state law and this chapter. The clerk of the municipal court may be employed otherwise by the town.

    (b)

    The town council may appoint the city secretary to serve as municipal court clerk. In the event of such appointment, the term of the city secretary shall coincide with the term of the municipal court clerk unless otherwise provided by ordinance. The city secretary may appoint a deputy municipal court clerk subject to the approval of the town council.
